My dearest brother in Christ is a Catholic, as are his parents, whom I consider to be my God-parents. They are unquestionably Christian; they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior; they follow his examples and teachings and they, more than anyone, are why I ultimately came to follow Jesus. In other words, they “[went] and made [a] disciple.” They have done that thousands of times because they love Jesus and because he directs us to do it.
Now, it seems their current Pope wants them to stop following the commands of Jesus.
If this is an accurate quote, Pope Francis has effectively called the Lord Jesus a sinner. Worse, he has called the Messiah a sinner who requires others to sin in His name. Either negates the Pope’s Christianity.
“Francis welcomed changes which he attributed to the Council, such as an increased ‘respect for cultures’ and the ‘inculturation of the Gospel’ – things which were an “indirect consequence of the Council.”
Highlighting this ‘evangelization of culture,’ Francis expanded by saying that he was talking of ‘evangelizing, of announcing, and nothing more, with much respect.’
Consequently, he argued that ‘proselytism’ was the ‘most serious sin that a missionary can have.’
‘Therefore, the most serious sin that a missionary can have is proselytism. Catholicism is not proselytism.’
It is not me who convicts Francis of calling Jesus a sinner. He convicted himself.
While reading the Bible it’s easy to miss, but, before the crucifixion, before He rose again, Jesus told His Father that He had completed the task God gave Him.
New International Version
4 “I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. Jesus Prays for His Disciples 6 “I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.”
He had fully-discipled the apostles. They were ready disciple others.
Jesus left us a clear order to make disciples, which cannot happen unless we proselytize, which means to attempt to convert others to your faith.
New International Version
18 “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
If Lifesite quoted Francis accurately, the Catholic Church has an enemy of the faith—an enemy of the Lord, I dare say—at its helm.
The Pope is apparently NOT following the teachings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus...
False Prophet.
I have very committed relation with God, but I don't trust the catholic church, the pope or the vatican.
